If the question is if I'm male then that is a yes. I'm just saying I am unlikely to end up having a sexual encounter with another guy so I will never know if I actually like it so until then I am saying I am strictly heterosexual because I do not have any homosexual tendencies I currently know about because I have never experienced.

TDE brings up the obvious problem with these kinds of questions, of course. Most people who are primarily heterosexual never have any homosexual experiences, so it's just not possible for them to know whether they're in the majority of heterosexual people in that they have some minor homosexual tendencies or if they're Super-Straight-Freaks. B)

Haha.  Fair enough.  But you would agree that most people—at least most American males—are not honest about such things.  That can include honesty to oneself.

Oh, definitely. Heteronormativity ain't gonna disappear because a few states've legalized gay marriage or DADT has been repealed; it's ingrained quite deeply in... well, probably in most societies, but certainly in those with strong Abrahamic traditions. But I think it'd be fair to say that aside from societies that have traditions of ritual homosexuality, the idea of cut-and-dry lines of sexuality are probably as deeply-rooted as the gender binary.

I've always considered the idea of lying to oneself to be a bit of a metaphor. You can't really deceive yourself in the same way you can other people; you can convince yourself of things that you want to believe (sometimes things which are true, sometimes things which aren't) but it's not like lying to others, where you usually know exactly what you're doing.

I may be mistaken about this, but I believe certain Asian traditions allow for more ambiguity in sexual self-identification.

No, but it's mostly male.  Ah well.  There would be no way to 100% guarantee anonymity, as far as I know.  You can always see who has looked at a forum, and if only one person has voted it wouldn't be hard to figure out who it was, for example.  Without that level of security no one would dare to answer honestly, even if they were inclined to do so.

 

But for the record, Haf and I have made love on several occasions.  The Invicta Christmas parties can get kind of... out of hand.  He is a tender lover.

Wow I missed quite a debate last night. I voted "Predominantly homosexual, only incidentally heterosexual" if anyone didn't understand yet. 

 

Generally I'm not interested in girls sexually, at all. Quite frankly I find the idea of tits repulsive. However when I have been quite wasted have snuggled and kissed with couple of girls. For me it's not much of a problem if it happens I guess; a guy + a girl is nothing the society hasn't seen before. So generally I'm gay, but there have been incidents in my life that are of heterosexual background. 

 

I've heard of studies, but I'm too lazy to look for them atm, that some 1/3-1/2 of american males have had same sexual encounters; mostly in their teens or college years. 

 

And no TDE, I didn't have to pull my cock out and yank it to the girls to know that   I don't have an issue with nudity and I don't link it to sexuality. Men constantly expose themselves to each other in the changing rooms of gyms; other sporting centres; saunas etc. There's a nice tradition of going to finnish saunas in Estonia. It's common to be naked there at 100 degrees Celsius. In mixed saunas (men and women) it's still very much the same. If I get naked in front of a naked girl I'm not like "oh yeah that's the reason I'm gay".

It depends on what you classify as a "homosexual experience," but it's well more than 1/3 to 1/2.  If you count masturbating in front of another boy/man, it's probably on the order of 90%.  That's what makes me so skeptical when men claim that they have never had a homosexual experience.  I mean, jeez, didn't any of them go to camp? 

 

In the 1940s the Kinsey Report found that 30% of American men had had a homosexual experience that resulted in orgasm.  Likely that figure is much higher now.
