do want. KB it will probably be released on PC eventully but Rockstar has focused on consule gaming for quite some time. Can't say I blame them for doing so with all the piracy going on.

I have such divided feelings about this franchise.

 

GTA3 and Vice City were two of the greatest games of all time. Then they broke the interface for San Andreas, which I never really played much because they abandoned my favourite stick layout.

 

GTA4 still doesn't have the alternate stick layout. But it is much better than San Andreas, with a story that's actually kinda cool. But ... there's something missing. Maybe it takes itself too seriously or something?

 

So I'll probably buy a used copy of GTA5 eventually. Like, 2015. When it's flooded the market and is really cheap.

You and I sir are in complete disagreement. I have been gaming for 25 years and I have to say..... the original storyline for GTA4 (not the expansions) was one of the 5 worst games I have ever seen and one of the 3 games I could just not dredge through. I was so excited for it because GTA:San Andreas was one of the better games made in the Xbox/PS2 era and I will play through bad storylines (Neverwinter Nights anyone?) just to complete a game to say I did it. After the first night of playing it on launch day, it sat on my shelf for 3 months before I flipped it on Craigslist. Not only was the storyline better in GTA:SA, the game was longer, had a ton more depth, more challenging- queue the hate for 'Learn to Fly' and the second to last mission where you have to save the Hispanic guy who runs out into ~20 enemies constantly with full automatics and good aim, and the map had much more room for exploration.

The Neverwinter Nights core campaign is not the game. It's a demo to help dungeon designers learn how to make modules. The point of playing NWN is to download modules.

Oh I wholeheartedy agree there and I get it was built for the community to play with the engine, just as they had with Baldur's Gate. Even then the mod community dropped the ball with it as well. I just was not compelled by anything out there. Some took to the online community and good for them. It still doesn't mean the couldn't have built a revelant (didn't even have to be great) storyline after all the hype coming off of Throne of Bhaal. I haven't touched NWN2 yet because I do not have a desktop capable of handling it but from what I hear it is better.

Now back on topic, Rotty I will hate on GTA4 all I want. The only positives I took from the game were graphics at the time and physics. Pretty doesn't make a good game only enhances one. As for GTA:SA, I do agree on the targeting system being stupid Haf. I have never cared for the hip-target system in any game but even you will admit that with the AI difficulty increase and bigger mobs... if Rockstar had gon traditional with their targetting system, it would have made the game insanely difficult at times. Especially the latter half of the game.

As a result I prefer NWN1.
