Hagel: 'We're ready to go' if ordered on Syria chemical weapons
By Chris Lawrence. Jill Dougherty and Tom Cohen, CNN
updated 4:01 PM EDT, Tue August 27, 2013

Washington (CNN) --

With a flurry of diplomatic signals and activity, U.S. officials sought Tuesday to lay the groundwork for a possible military strike on Syria in response to last week's suspected chemical weapons attack that Washington blames on President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

The White House offered legal justification, with spokesman Jay Carney telling reporters the large-scale use of chemical weapons in Syria presented a national security threat to the United States that required a response.

Carney reiterated that President Barack Obama had yet to make a final decision on how to respond to what U.S. officials characterize as the worst chemical weapons attack since former Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein launched a poison gas attack that killed thousands of Kurds in 1988.

The president continued to review options, Carney said, adding that "nothing has been decided" but assuring reporters some sort of response will come.

"Allowing the use of chemical weapons on a significant scale to take place without a response would present a significant challenge to or threat to the United States' national security," he said.

Vice President Joe Biden made clear the administration's view of who was to blame, telling the American Legion that "there is no doubt who is responsible for the heinous use of chemical weapons -- the Syrian regime."

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and Secretary of State John Kerry consulted allies and indicated potential imminent action by a coalition likely to include key NATO partners and regional powers.

Days after the United States moved warships armed with cruise missiles into the region, Hagel told the BBC on Tuesday that forces were ready to carry out a strike if ordered. A senior Defense Department official told CNN that any strike could be completed "within several days."

"We are ready to go, like that," Hagel told the BBC, adding that "the options are there, the United States Department of Defense is ready to carry out those options."

Red text says it all.

We're goin to war.

I just hope our Gov won't be as gung-ho as Obama is.

Given the fact that they also need a distraction from the internal issues... They just might be.

it's an attempt to make the economy better which Obama failed so bad at..

... or rather to distract from the fact that the econ. was never fixed to begin with.

Bush's bailout was a joke, 'bama's was just as bad.

Watch for the Fed tapering off buying 10 year treasuries in 3, 2....

oh hey speaking of Financial stuffs

NEW YORK (CNNMoney)
Fears over a possible U.S. military strike against Syria spooked investors Tuesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 fell more than 1% while the Nasdaq dropped more than 2%. The sell-off accelerated as the day progressed and the markets finished near their lows of the day. Global markets also closed lower.

Investors moved into assets deemed "safe," pushing up the prices of gold and U.S. and German government bonds. Oil prices also surged 3%.

Eileen Murphy, VP of corporate communications, initially reported the outage via Twitter.

While the Times was down, Twitter also experienced some hiccups on its website. A Twitter account for the group of hackers called the Syrian Electronic Army claimed that it had attacked the social media website and changed the ownership listing of Twitter's domain name registration. The same account later posted to Twitter that it had also taken over the registrations for the Times website and for the Huffington Post UK domain.

The U.S goes to war then wastes all our money rebuilding the country it completely ravaged just so American oil companies can swoop in while the nation is under U.S control. This is bullshit. Another reason for the rest of the world to hate the U.S. What the hell happened to the isolationist policy the States used to have. Now we just go every where and anywhere just to let people know if the U.S doesn't like you it will change you.

Yeah. Where is all this oil we went to get TDE? Are they just hiding it from us? Cause as far as I know, we didn't get any oil from any of these nations.
