Tazers have multiple shots. They're electric, man.

What I mean is they can only be fired at a target one time. xP

They use a pressurized air or nitrogen cartridge that's like 100 bucks or something and they only shoot out their prongs once at a time. To put another way, they're connected to wires, so they'd have to roll in the wires again, compress it, and then add a new cartridge to be able to fire again. It's like a 20 second reload minimum, and some need to be put back together in a factory. O_O

Long range tazers, that is.

Yeah, the short-range ones (hello there Mr. Subway Defense System) can be reloaded much more easily, many are just electrodes really. Still even the long-range ones, those things come in cartridges. They do cost a lot more than bullets but that's the only real issue.

We're talking like, 30 foot range, a few shots, from the best ones. Most police fire 5-10 rounds and only 1 round hits. It's pretty easy to miss in a firefight or move outside the 10 yard range.

Problems with price per shot also comes down to practice, although cheaper practice cartridges could be used. They're also inherently inaccurate since they lack a long barrel and are powered by air pressure, as well just aren't very stable in flight.

But I guess with the right body armor you could make stand to get shot a lot and move in closer with regular tazers. Still wouldn't be a perfect solution, particularly considering that it's caused heart attacks in some people and doesn't work on others.

It's better than punching holes in people at range.

This is all a little late - my posting, but I would like to share thoughts on this from a "law enforcement" perspective. Now, I'm not an officer of the law, but I baby sit officers of the law as a 911 dispatcher...I've handled riots through communications where we had our foggers, tasers, tanks come in handy.

I agree that many of these people were peacefully protesting, but just like in any situation - a small group of assholes WILL ALWAYS ruin it for the masses. Think about being in grade school - little bitches would ruin recess all the time and you did nothing wrong. So in turn all of these people that did nothing wrong (which is the majority) flock to media sites and start typing and filming, then mainstream media takes hold and BAM...headlines are "Police attacking peaceful protestors in ferg...." yes, some cops are assholes, it comes with the territory and I deal with assholes on a daily basis, but a lot of these people don't even know what they are protesting for.

I heard one lady on the news saying completely wrong facts and basically said that she's out there because she doesn't want to go to work....because she doesn't want to go to work.

I don't think they were prepared to handle a situation like this, this fast - which led to the odd decisions being made.
