All they're really expecting here is "high winds and heavy rains," whatever that means. I'd be surprised if it has a loot of oomph left by the time it gets up here.

I'd love a shipment of sunny Oz weather. But from what I hear it's getting hot down there -- really hot. It seems global climate change has hit the Great Southern Land hard. Is this so, Red?

Eh, it's really not too much different. Sure we hit 45* a bit more, but seriously, between 104 and 120 F, what's the big difference? Both are potentially lethal temperatures.

But there are some changes offshore, cause the ocean currents are changing, we're getting bigger cyclones, and they're going further. May I point out Cyclone Yasi, it was big enough to cover a quarter of our country at peak strength (and Australia is about the same size as mainland USA), and managed to do this:



Yeah, when it stopped being a cyclone, it was over a bloody desert. And then proceeded to troll about the central desert as a tropical storm for some time. Dafuq.

The other major problem is that it means the central deserts are expanding again. Which sucks.

I live near Rochester NY and I am suppose to get like 35-45 sustained winds, and 55-65 gusts.
