Rebel-held territory in east Aleppo has been cut in half.

The strange thing is the Kurds are increasingly supporting the Assad regime, case in point Aleppo. See America you gone and fucked up with letting Turkey attack ISIS I mean Kurds.

No shit Sherlock, Turkey are in Syria using the pretence of ISIS, when in fact they don't give a proven shit about ISIS and just want to do some Kurd killing which is traditional in Turkey.

Dude, we arm them everyday. Sometimes on purpose, sometimes on "accident."

Only "moderates" got armed, but I'd like to know how they tested who was and wasn't moderate.

We actually don't arm Daesh on purpose, but if you can find a valid (valid) source that proves otherwise, I'm all ears. A current, valid source. And no, Turkey's involvement does not count (because I already mentioned that).

Moderate rebels were tested for a number of things. First, they had to prove that their group was nominally secular and democratic. They also had to sign a waiver agreeing not to attack the Assad government, only to attack Daesh. They also have to be part of certain MOCs, usually run by people outside Syria. The Southern Front (largely secular) is supported mostly by Jordan and a few others, whereas the more Islamist factions near Aleppo are run by Turkey (Idlib governorate is traditionally way more conservative than the rest of Syria).

@Chax: How recent is recent? Remember when it came to light 6 months ago that Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki a CIA vetted group was going around beheading children and being generally non moderate.

Which as it turned out stopped receiving weapon funding and supplies.

You going to tell us that's an isolated incident that's never happened before or since? As Donald Trump says and I hate to repeat it, the US doesn't really know who they're helping.

Or fund Shiite militias with ties to Iran? Is that ok? That one is actually happening still. The difference is they are our friends right now. Remove Daesh from the equation and these militias just take their place this time with Iran's backing.

Zenki hasn't been supported by the CIA in over a year now. Also the Southern Front is an entirely different creature than the groups active around Aleppo and Idlib.

Also there aren't a lot of people in Syria right now who aren't beheading people/committing crimes against humanity. Branch 215 and Daesh are basically the same thing in my mind.

That just adds to my point, when it's strongly suggested that only the extremist Islamic groups are committing atrocities and not moderate groups then you just self defeated your own argument with your post. :P

Sorry, should have specified northern Syria. I thought that much was understood.
