-Microchips in Brain, to control said zombie
-Actually making robots is much more expensive and difficult than humans
-Juiced up on drugs and such
-Brain dead, sedated
-Controlled by electrodes
-Set to do evil bidding by zombie master controllers
-Probably made by the Russians
-Probably ex-criminals and such, also potentially gulag members

Cyborg Zombie Soldiers

"What do we want?"

"Brains!"

"When do we want them!"

"BRAINSS!!!!"

So, as most of us are aware, humanoid android robots, practical to perform everyday tasks (clean your room, make your lunches etc.) or for soldiers more or less don't exist. The raw complication required to replicate a human brain, even an insect brain, is outside the realms of possibility for computers and science, let alone something small enough to fit in to a robot. Furthermore, the physical aspect, replicating the combined strength and flexibility of human tissue, the ability to respond to the environment, simply doesn't exist. Robotic mechanics like this are decades away, and likely would be extremely expensive.

What does exist however, are electrodes that can control movement! Not only can electrodes be placed on the surface of the skin or embedded within muscles to give them a "shock" in order for the nervous system to respond, but they can also be placed within the brain. [1][2][3] Small beetles have been fitted with devices that allow their minds to be controlled, and their bodies to be maneuvered at the will of a remote control. Insects are of course, considerably cheaper than microdrones, and it fitted with say, cameras or other sensory equipment, could be equally useful on the battlefield. While replicating this with technology could cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars, beetles naturally self replicate, giving us a nearly endless supply of potential beetle bugs for our purposes. They can even be given advanced enough instructions to fly, giving them changes in mid air.

It doesn't take much to imagine the same type of technology being provided to say, a human. All that would need to be done is to make the humans less resistant, or more pliable to the devices. Obviously, bug brains are simpler, and thus more apprehensive to suggestion, than humans, who are much stronger willed. But, a sedated body, or one with a damaged/weakened artificial lobe, would be much easier to control. Their brain essentially runs the subroutines that even the best computers are incapable of, and we gain control of their body. This would represent a leap, decades ahead of current technology, and allow for the ability to basically control complex robot androids, using organic forms. These cyborgs could then be used to exercise, lift weights, eat healthily, and the like to generally make them stronger and more fit. They then could be programmed how to fight effectively, given weapons, and controlled by an operator miles away. While controlling each robot individually with a single commander would only allow for incredibly loose commands, having individual operators to control each cyborg suddenly becomes more practical.

Granted, there would need to be ready and willing members of society to undergo these operations, or other individuals in order to gain access to the essentially (mostly) brain-dead body. If enough volunteers are not found, prisoner's, POW's, the homeless, or other less favorable members of society could be used in their place, instead. For those of you more squeamish folks, we *could* use clones or the like instead, so as to avoid abducting random people or running in to moral and ethical quandaries. As their mental capacities would mean little compared to the operator, as they would only need the basic ability to walk, eat, go to the restroom etc., they could potentially be chosen from all walks of life. They would only need to be physically together and have enough part of their brain functioning to be usable. As long as we had "commanders" controlling their movements from afar, we could use them as soldiers on the battlefield, without risking our actual soldiers. The advantages would mostly be soldiers who didn't whine, feel pain, or fear death, without having to sacrifice our best trained members in combat.

Additional Augmentations
-Artificial heart with very low blood pressure to have 3-5 times the heart rate of a normal human at all times [1][2][3]

-Blood doping to increase the volume of blood and thus the ability to absorb oxygen and nutrients, increasing endurance and reducing healing times (as well as increasing the ability to hold your breath, among other things) [1] [2]

-Oxygen Concentrator  to utilize ambient oxygen and create an oxygen concentration of 40% compared to 20% for double the saturation in blood, using a nitrogen scrubber and reducing the pressure to avoid oxygen toxicity. [1]

-Thermoregulator to keep the body below 104 degrees Fahrenheit so as to avoid the shut down of various chemicals in the body such as muscle pyruvate kinase, to increase endurance and total output [1][2][3][4]

-Growth Hormone for added height and muscle mass

Ceramic/titanium joints to reduce the wear and tear of strenuous exercise (the bones, ligament,s tendons etc. have to keep up heavy weights in addition to the muscle, so strengthening these is important for strength as well) [1][2]

In The House of Scorpio they use simmilar technology on people trying to get into the US from mexico through a dystopian country along the border called Aztlan. They are forced to become poppy farming drones.

Boston Dynamics is doing some pretty neat stuff with robots.

I think beetles as microdrones would be pretty ballin.

Clone army zombie soldiers, maybe, but using animals that are mind controlled would be really neat.

Imagine a bear with an Ak-47, right?

No training the bear, no unruly bears, we just mind control them and send them out on the battlefield.

Take that, Russia!

Now that's something I would run from!
