Raising Arizona is an amazing movie, one of my all-time favorites. Ditto Shawshank Redemption. But best movie ever? Ehh... That's a bit of hyperbole in both cases. I'm not sure what I would consider the "best" movie ever. Star Wars? That's tempting. Jaws? Another contender. But I'm not feeling it in my gut. See, you have to make a distinction between movies you LIKE and movies that are objectively good. The former is easy, the latter much harder to quantify. By what yardstick are we measuring? How do you compare a drama to a thriller or a science fiction film? I don't know.

Wow, that was a lot of mental meandering. And I'm not even high (yet). Speaking of movies, I just saw Avengers. More on this later tonight, but I am happy to say my fears were unfounded. It as very good.

I'm a huge movie fanatic. I have a lot of favorite movies, most of which are either war/action and some dramas like Forrest Gump, American History X, Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator, Patton, Crash, Training Day, Iron Man, The Rock, Phone Booth, Heat, Last Samurai, Collateral, The Kingdom, Bourne Ultimatum, Shutter Island and both Bad Boys movies. Needless to say, I could never pick out which ones I like best because I have way too many to even begin to narrow them down without mentioning others.

Yeah it's pretty hard question to answer since it's so subjective, I was shocked by the rating a movie I thought was good(but by no means great) on Rotten Tomatoes (The Postman) gets 9%! http://www.rottentom...com/m/postman/. However the same site rates awful movies well like Captain America, (79%) phantom menace (57%) Terminator 3 (71%).

Having said that, I am a little worried that I am becoming too lenient with films, the last 5 I saw I have all liked. Sherlock holmes 2, Chronicle, Hunger games, cabin in woods, and avengers....

Well, Avengers was awesome... only two minor things I thought could have been done better, so at least you're safe there :awesome:

My quibbles with Avengers were few.
Spoiler
But that's really it. Otherwise I thought it was outstanding, which was a very pleasant surprise, as I was not expecting much. I'll be posting a full review soon, maybe tomorrow.
