I'll prefix this saying I've never been a massive fan of Bowie's works. They're good, but not the sort of thing I'll listen to all the time. My favourite things are dark and dissonant, mortality and the end of all things. This pretty much sums up Blackstar as an album, and for obvious reason. Sooooo having got it (it's sort of a "Hey everyone's getting this album, better get it too"), I'm really enjoying it.

Favourite song is the titular one, cause... well seriously go listen to Zeit by Tangerine Dream.

It's rumoured this song was about predicting his own death, if you listen to the lyrics and look at himself lying on the death bed or on the cross as a scarecrow, it kind of makes sense.

I think "predicting" is the wrong word; more like "anticipating."

Now that Bowie is dead, people are suddenly buying his music again.

i dont think anyone can actually predict their death....for the sheer fact that everbody dies... so making a prediction like that is kind of pointless...

"I predict that one day im gonna die"
"of course you are idiot"

i think Haf is closer with the word "anticipating". I read somewhere online that he actually didnt spend that much time on Blackstar due to the fact he felt very weak alot of the time. One person who was around him while he was working on it called it a "fever of creativity for bowie" im sure he knew it was more than likely the last thing he was going to be able to work on, so of course he included death as a theme throughout the album so he could share that experience with his fans/the world.

Bowie had a net worth of $230 million before he died. People never stopped buying his music.

He was prolific, so it wouldn't surprise me to find out that there is a backlog of unreleased material. But he was also a perfectionist, so anything unreleased may be unreleased because he wanted it that way.

The article(s) ive read about it stated that one is going to be basically "B-sides" of Blackstar and the rest is some more original work that he wanted to put out later.... Apparently he arranged all this music to be released after his death which he probably expected to be later, rather than when it happened. But he wanted this currently unreleased music to be put out eventually...at least thats what the article(s) said anyways... ive been hunting for a similar statement from Bowie's family/colleagues/record label but i havent found anything quite yet

There's always a burst in sales activity whenever a famous musician dies. I remember when John Lennon died, people started buying up Double Fantasy, which if you've heard that album you would be surprised too.

There will probably be a Milk and Honey-type album at some point down the line.
