Not really a fan of country, but if it came down to listening to that or hip hop, the decision is easy.

It would depend on the country and the hip hop. I actually like some older, classic country like Johnny Cash. But modern country is like ear poison to me. Generally I'm not a fan of hip hop but there are some songs that I like. I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I know they exist!

That's not hip-hop, that's okay.

 

I'm talking about hip-hop, where every third word is "nigger". Like the music I have to hear every night at work blasting from people's Bluetooth speakers. I've never heard the word so much in my entire life since I've had to listen to other people's music blasting over the the 80's music that is played over the PA which is what we're supposed to be listening to (even though they don't even need to provide that).

I think that still qualifies as hip hop, which is a pretty broad category. What you're talking about is maybe more like gangsta rap. It's kind of like how Gwar and the Black Crowes are both rock bands.
