Left out some kinda big ones there, didn't you?  The Shining, Spartacus, Eyes Wide Shut, Barry Lyndon, even A.I., arguably.

 

I'd say The Shining.

I went with Dr. Strangelove. I'd argue the point, but we all know you can't fight in the war room.

I did add them at first but then I saw how huge the list went. 

 

Also I argue against A.I. I loved the movie though. 

 

I did make a marathon once: watched as many Kubrick films from earliest to latest as I was able to get my hands on. I concluded - Kubrick was a perv. 

 

I voted Space Odyssey. Although it's an old movie its' attention to smallest of details and its' fresh ideas keep it on the bar with many modern sci fi movies. If anything, it's only problem was that it was bit slow at some parts.

I was torn between Shining and Strangelove.  On another day I might have voted differently.

 

All in all I would agree about A.I.  Too bad, because it was an interesting idea.  You can see the Kubrick in it, but Spielberg ruined it.

 

Fun fact:  Full Metal Jacket was filmed in England.  Kubrick rarely left the UK.

I chose strangelove. Gotta love kubrick getting pulled in by the FBI for producing a model B-52 cockpit that was so similar to the real thing, they were concerned that espionage was involved.

I like Dr Strangelove, but I hate Kubrick for fucking up 2001. Clarke is my favourite writer, so when Kubrick threw out Clarke's instructions on how to do the last bit for his own fucktardery, I lost all respect for him, just like Clarke did

I opened up a challenge in TOP yesterday: to watch 13 Kubrick movies in December. As a result I watched Fear and Desire today. I must admit it seemed like all good producers have to start at somewhere mediocre.

You also have to account for the styles and tropes of the time.  Spartacus is a great movie, for example, but it's definitely dated.  Sometimes that makes older movies seem, well, old-fashioned.
