I'm building a B.A. gaming rig this winter.

I know I want a SSD for the OS.

Reading up on the difference between an i5 and i7
I want at least 16gb of RAM, I think I want DDR3, as it should be hella cheap.

GeForce 970 or 980?

Gimme your opinions eh?

Nerds!
Assemble!

I5 got the best bang for buck especially the K(Unlocked, overclockable) Models.

Seance you are building it in winter this CPU is out Core i5-6600K.

The GPU depends on your setup Personally I get the 970 and Overclocked it or find a OC'd Models.

Update I found one but you need to buy DDR4 RAM and a AMD equivalent of a 970. It a Motherboard and a CPU bundle. I will post some more later. Typing on the phone sucks. http://m.tigerdirect...ts/9805471?Sku=

I love that mobo/processor but DDR4 is so fucking expensive though. I think KB was saying he wanted DDR3 because it is significantly cheaper.

I don't think their is a DDR3 version of the sixth gen I5. Just buy the first 8GB then later but the rest.

DDR4 would be sweet, but yeah, I'm trying to get as much bang for my buck as possible.

/me apoofs

I would still suggest sticking with Haswell for the time being, no real point going to Skylake if you're not going to use the DDR4. Plus as it's now two gens out of date, it'll be hell cheap.

Go with the 4790k Devil's Canyon, which is probably the best consumer CPU on the market. Chipset should be Z97 for maximum kickassery. 970 OC is a good GC but 980 Ti is one of the single most powerful cards to date, so if you can make that push, do it.

But that's my view here :3

Lots of <3

Dezra~
