If someone could tell you the exact date and time of your death, would you want to know?  Bear in mind that there is nothing you can do to change this outcome; no matter what you do you will die at the appointed time.  Would this knowledge change how you live?

I think about death often and I am afraid of it, but that's mostly because I don't know when it could come. I think knowing would alleviate a lot of those fears.

Yeah, me neither.  I'm terrified of being elderly and alone in some nursing home.  Not that I want to die tomorrow or anything.  Ideally I'd like my consciousness uploaded to an immortal, indestructible body that looks like Justin Bieber.  Is that too much to ask?

I like to believe that it is always better to know.

I'm not saying it wouldn't terrify me, or may keep me frozen in place, but I would be better to go through that, coming out the other side knowing, than to refuse the knowledge.

I believe myself to be intelligent, Thrash, and I don't fear death one bit. Nothing good ever comes of fearing what you don't know, because then, you'll want to eventually find some kind of solace, by any means. Even making stuff up.

 

Besides, death might be fun. It might not even be death. There are many theories.

I beg to differ. I'd say we're the only people capable of seeing the issue. We can contend with nature, that's how we got into the global warming mess. If we all actually gave a shit and tried, we'd be contending with anything we damn well wanted.

How can that bother you if you're dead. Once you're dead, there will be no more experiencing stuff, so why freak out about something that won't bother you once you're in that state.

I realise what I said had a fatalistic tone, but it's more, enjoy every day for the moment of that day you're experiencing rather than worrying about what you won't be able to do or experience once you're dead. Carpe diem; YOLO; live every day as though it were your last.
