This is a silly question because there is only one answer. Everyone is egotistical since that is a biproduct of conscious thought. I doubt anyone here thinks to themselves continuously"Wow I'm such a fuck my life sucks and I'm a huge loser. No one thinks I'm cool." That is just ridiculous. To some degree we are all egotistical because we all have positive viewpoints about ourselves. Unless you are a robot I won't believe you if you claim to not be egotistical.
Is it not also silly to think that no one thinks of themselves as useless and stupid?
It's not really as fun, but if the poll was "Do you hold contempt for yourself?" (or something with less striking language), could we not expect the same split in people? No, I know we couldn't. But I know I'd have to answer in the affirmative to that one as well. Wording would greatly change if I choose one or the other, but really I know I can be egotistical and hold contempt for myself. Really, if I didn't want to seem like I was humble (which, in itself, is that not thinking highly of yourself?) I would've voted 'no' to my own poll.
Did no one else think about that? Was George Washington, who purposefully modeled himself after
Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus not egotistical in that regard? Perhaps even selfishly so? The audacity, to try and humble yourself into legend. And it worked for the guy. So he was already a really successful guy, who won his little fit with his former country, but then he pulled that stunt.*
*not that I don't like George Washington, but you get my point. I like him. So I can see why someone would want to be like him. Why he would want to be like Cincinnatus. etc.
