The brings up an interesting question — is it possible to "like" too much? I have a friend who is one of the nicest people I've ever met, but he likes everything. Sometimes it's like he's too easily impressed. But then I wonder if maybe he's normal and I'm just really, really critical.

I hate that about myself.

Well, knowing you have a problem is the first step! :D

Also no, you can never like things too much!

Except for like, idk, murder. And bad things.

Liking bad things too much is bad.

If I followed Phate's rational, my like means "I agree".

I actually thought you might've been talking about me for a moment.

I often worry I'm "too nice", or nice in an insincere way.

I don't know. I think about stuff too much.

The thing about sincerity is that it's easy to fake. That's why you can never trust anyone ever.

No, most people think they can tell. You have no way of knowing how many times you are fooled, because you are fooled.

Who in Invicta likes the like button the most? See for yourself:

(I'm not the worst offender!)

CznjwZR.png

I would like to say in my defense, that I often just click Like instead of making a post that just says "I agree with this post"

This gravedig is imperative to point out that this is the most-liked post on the forums.

I'm surprised that I was as high up as I am. But then again, I've been around a long time. And I get a lot of likes, so I tend to give a lot of likes. (That's funny, instead of "likes" in that last sentence I almost wrote "blowjobs." Freudian slip!)

But Phate (or was it KB?) is right: Like means more than "like." On Facebook, especially, we hit the "Like" button as a way of agreeing or offering support. That's why we hit the "Like" button when someone posts about something sad, like losing a loved one. We don't really like that your mother died after a long battle with cancer, we're just offering you our support. It's sort of a combination of "I like this," "I agree with this," and "D'awwwww."

What do you think that list is?

More interesting would be to see likes over time. My rate has really gone down because I've made a conscious effort to stop.

(Also I just hate you all that much more)

That's one of the reasons people've been angling for a 'Dislike' button for so long. It's often difficult to determine what someone means when they 'like' someone. Is this guy liking the post about a black kid being killed by cops because he thinks it's an important story? Or does he actually like the content of the story? Unless you personally know him, it's impossible to tell.

Of course, a 'Dislike' button doesn't actually solve that confusion at all, which is why there've been hints Facebook is working towards implementing an 'Empathy' button to compliment the 'Like' button. I think it's a good idea, despite how utterly stupid the phrase 'empathy button' sounds.

The problem is it would need to be broken down by like say, months, weeks etc., we wouldn't really know. And then we'd have to add those figures to a graph.

But I'd be willing to do it, if someone gave me the raw data.

Also, where did the original list come from? O.o

Might as well go preschool facebook and use smiley face and sad face. Let's be honest here who gives a rats arse about the like button on Facebook?
