...Well making apps can cost you a nice chunk of change. I recently made a couple of my first apps and I'll tell ya that expenses add up. While the coding can be done cheaply or for free, both Android Marketplace and Apple Marketplace have fees for publishing apps. Apples is $100 to get their development kit and publish while Androids is only $25. I recently went ahead and purchased a developer account on Android to publish my current apps. I also found out I can invite other people to publish their apps through my account for free. You can't sell your apps(they must be free) but I will happily let any aspiring app maker publish there apps on my dev account to avoid the fees. If some people are interested in this and expanding it to Apple and paid apps on Android AND willing to donate I'll invest in getting those set up too. If you're interested in any of this please send me a PM on these forums or in CN OR catch me on IRC! Id love to talk to you about your app or making another!

I've been wanting to write an app for a long time, I've written the core part of a bookshelf app, but it's already been done better by several others, so I didn't bother finishing. I can never think of any good ideas, or the ideas I can think of have been done already. It's frustrating.

Also, I thought to develop for the iPhone, you're required to be running OS X.

Phate, no its actually dependent on the type of code you use. There are even languages now that can be used on both (ex Appcellerator Titanium). Also I have the same problem coming up with ideas :/

Our company has great benfits including a "sex benefit" that works similar to how many companies use cars. You can either use the companies women or we will pay you a small stipend to buy your own. This was instituted to attact workers to the company as well as increase worker happiness and productivity.

Oh, ok. I read a while back that Apple forbid using any cross-platform frameworks. Basically that anything you didn't write in Objective-C was disallowed. Maybe it changed, or maybe they just gave themselves the option to deny things for that reason if they were so inclined.

Yes and No. Yes it needs to be in objective C but some smart people have come up with ways that I dont understand and somehow convert to both C and Java? Or something. http://www.appcelerator.com/ has a language but I know very little about it. Hell I know very little about anything so I'd take what I say with a graain of salt.

On that note Phate send me a PM if you want some ideas and wanna join my little group.

1.) I don't know java, but I've had some past experience with C++ and I currently develop web sites (PhP, HTML, SQL, etc.)
2.) My time is very limited until after tax season (I'm currently the tech guy for my mom's tax business, and tax season is about to start)
