I sit on a fantastic plane of moral nihilism, so as far as I'm concerned it's you yourselves that decide what's moral or not.

Which consequentially is why everyone can disagree.

The real morals you gotta care about are the ones society (or your local social clique) cares about.

I can pretty much ditto this post, excepting that I'd amend it slightly: even above what morals society cares about are the ones you personally care about. Accepting moral relativity to me does not preclude me from maintaining my own personal moral code, nor indeed from valuing certain moral convictions more than others.

  • Do I personally feel X is right or wrong?
  • Do those I personally care for feel X is right or wrong, or would they be adversely affected by the consequences of it?
  • Would the natural environment be adversely affected by the consequences of it?
  • Ditto (2), but for my broader society.
  • Ditto (2), but for the world and humanity at large.

If I've gotten to the bottom of this list and have not reached general consensus on the morality of an issue, I can probably conclude that it's amoral.

But as with everything Jorost said, I don't feel there's often an absolute right or wrong about a general issue, only about specific issues.
