Which galactic civilization is your favorite?  For simplicity's sake, I kept it to the major races that have made repeated appearances on one or more of the shows.

I have to go with the Dominion.  I dig their sense of order and their genetically-engineered perfection.  Plus their emblem looks like a J.  J for Jorost.

On a side note, who is going to vote for the Bajorans? They are the backwoods bible thumpers of the Star Trek universe

This depends on what you mean.

The Bajorans have the best stories.

However if I was picking a place to live, it would probably be Vulcan.

The Bajorans were pretty interesting, I thought.  And while it is true they were the "Bible thumpers," they were in the unique position that their gods were real.  No one doubted the Prophets' existence, nor their supernatural nature (although most non-Bajorans stopped short at referring to them as "gods").  I suppose the same argument could be made about the Founders, but they were only viewed as gods because the Vorta and the Jem'Hadar had been genetically engineered to see them that way.  As powerful as they were, they were still mortal.

I dig the Romulans too.  They would probably be my second choice.

Why Vulcan?  It's awfully hot and dry there.  Plus (depending on which continuity you visit), it's all blowed up.

If I were going to pick a non-Earth planet to live on it would probably be Bajor.

I'm surprised no one picked Klingon.  Maybe we're not a Trekky enough crowd.  :)

Well...

It's awfully hot and dry there is two reasons. Also Vulcans are nice and some of them are really sexy. B-)

Which Vulcans are nice?  They always seem like cold, aloof, arrogant assholes to me.

I didn't know you liked it hot and dry.  You live in entirely the wrong place, Haf!

It's true, you guys have nothing on my friend Emmy who just got "Ad Astra Per Aspera" and the Starfleet logo tattoos.

Sadly the sexy ones often turn out to be the less nice ones. I mean, Valeris. Still there's Saavik who was pretty cool, especially when she stopped being Kirstie.

But Spock and Sarek are pretty good recommending people for the whole race.

Yah. A lot of the reason why I live in Ottawa is because it's relatively dry for Canada. Also Arizona has too many gun nuts. But take the people out of it and Arizona's probably my dream location. B-)

What about somewhere in California?  You get the dry desert-like climate without the gun nuts.  Of course you get an entirely different species of nut in exchange, but still...  :)

Parts of Cali are OK, but mostly it's too close to the ocean. Also they're even crazier. B-)

Too close to the ocean?  It's like I don't even know who you are any more.

I hate being away from the ocean for any length of time.  It's one of the things that drove me mad about going to school in western Massachusetts.

What about Utah?  :D

Utah seems decent, but it does have Salt Lake.

Arizona especially in the north of the state. You don't really have to worry about much unless you are Hispanic.
