So I was asked to share this with Invicta. When this poll was going on and Jorost hadn't shut it down I suggested to MK poll master to run a similar poll. I was personally interested in comparison. I didn't tell them about our poll at first untill the topic was well on it's way.
Their question however was bit more mild
Would you be bothered if a muslim family moved in next door to you?
Yes 3 (5.7%)
Maybe a little 2 (3.8%)
No 48 (90.6%)
Other 0 (0%)
Total Members Voted: 53
Is it either the more mild question or other reason, they did score 17 percentage points higher than us. But as you can see some people did have an issue with it, so in large part pretty similar result. Especially cause we only had 15 members voting.
I'm also quoting some replies here:
As a muslim (loosely) I try not to stick out like a sore thumb when in western countries. I dont wear a silly hat or robes, and woman in my family dont even wear a hijab or a headscarf, or even go to the local mosques it attracts bad attention and make the locals feel uneasy. This is the problem I see in muslims abroad, they feel alienated from their culture so they try their best to preserve it. This problem is mostly associated with poor/lower middle class muslims from Pakistan and Egypt from my experience, and I actively try to avoid cities which has a high population of these two minorities (Bradford in the UK comes to mind).
Now when it comes to food, pakistan/indian food smells horrible, unlike middle eastern cuisine (we dont consider pakistan part of the ME) which have little or no smell, like lebanese food, or gulf countries oriented food, since we dont use spices in our ingredients.
That being said, I still wont go to places like eastern europe because of the extreme islamphobia (more of a xenophobia) which might physically get me in trouble just because I look like an Arab and I do get islamophobic against the muslims I mentioned above when I see them abroad.
I've never really cared for words like "Islamophobia" or "homophobia". It makes it sound as if it's some sort of disorder or legitimate phobia that can't be helped. Just call them what they are: Assholes.

needs "I would prefer it" option.
Lived just down the road from one of the largest mosques in the US and had a practicing Muslim roommate. Wouldn't bother me at all. Would be especially happy if they opened a restaurant with good Pakistani food. We can get good Mediterranean food around here, but there's not a good curry place for quite some distance.
i dated a muslim once
I'm too lazy and I don't see a reason to add names to most of the quotes aside the one that needed it.
