I haven't been to / can remember all those places.

Checkers is good (glad people around here know them), and Chick-fa La. McDonalds is good if they're perfectly crisp/salted. Otherwise they're trash. I'll make an effort to go to more fast food places so I'm informed for the next version of this poll.

I've only been to a Carl's Jr. once, in Saudi Arabia, and only then because it was right across the street from my apartment.  I don't know if I've ever even seen a Hardee's.

I've seen a Hardee's, but have not ventured inside one. I think anyway. I have a feeling it was in Pennsylvania, but it might have been Kansas.

Also I think we have, or within the region, have, most everything being DC/on the border of North and South. In-N out or White castle are the only big ones I can think of that I've never seen. And Arby's is really good, again if they're made right. And even if they're not (soggy or not crispy like I like) the sandwiches are good, so it's still fine.

Yeah I wasn't sure about KFC, but they're the second-biggest fast-food chain, so I felt kind of compelled to include them.

They're not anymore. It's Subway now, has been for a while. Who don't sell fries either

 

I'm not sure if KFC is even #3 now actually. They are getting absolutely wiped out here in Ottawa, most of the stores here have closed in the past few years.

They were still #2 on the list I looked up when I posted the thread.  But maybe it was old.

 

Frigging Subway.  Why do people go there?  Their sandwiches are godawful.  Panera Bread is 100% better.

Subway used to be awesome, in like 1992. You could go there and get a footlong and a pop for 3 bucks.

 

Now it almost feels like there's a breathing tax for walking through the door. Prices have tripled or quadrupled for most subs. It's just crazy. It's like they want to be Quisno's.

 

At least they still have fresh bread. But so does Mr. Sub, and Mr. Sub's prices haven't really changed all that much in the last 20 years. Used to be they were a bit more expensive than Subway, now they're a good bunch cheaper.

 

Mr. Sub is Canadian though, pretty sure you've never seen one.

Nope.  But this goes back to what I was talking about re: fast-food chains in New England.  We do have Subway, mostly in malls, and there are a couple Quizno's around (almost as bad as Subway in my opinion).  But mostly what we have are small, family-owned, independent pizza/sub shops, which as I said are almost always named "House of Pizza."

The old family-owned sub shops up here got pretty much all wiped out by Subway in the 90s, because Subway was soooo much cheaper and had fresh bread.

 

Now they still have ... fresh bread.

They're still cheaper here.  Not by a lot, but a little bit.  Their bread is terrible though.  Pick any random independent sub shop in Massachusetts and it probably has fresher bread than Subway.

Then again, I live in Ottawa, and nowadays here if you want an independent place serving some kind of fast food you're probably going to be eating Arab food. Shawarma places dot the landscape.

I love shawarma.  It's the thing I miss the most about Saudi Arabia.

Our Subway restaurants are awesome. And their prices have not changed too much. Gone up by about two dollars. But that's it.
