well around 6k live in my local area and its about 100 people to a post code and them numbers come from 3 post codes so 300 people.

If those represent numbers out of 300 people they seem quite high.  In March of 2014 the city of Manchester, population 5.4 million, had 2,564 burglaries (statistics here).  That translates to a burglary rate of 0.047, or 47/100,000 population.  If you had 2 burglaries out of 300 people, that's a burglary rate of 0.667, or 667/100,000 population.  That's Third World territory.

People move around since who robs their next door neighbours.... But again if we break it down by postcodes which cover tiny areas (sometimes a street with a handful of 2 bed houses) the numbers based on your method is nonsensical at those levels.

But I feel we are distracting from the point that potential violent crime can happen anywhere and just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean it isn't happening in the neighbourhood whether its poor or a rich one.

All of that may be true.  But it doesn't change the fact that in most places in developed countries, most people never experience serious crime.  Just because something can happen (yes, I love italics ) does not mean it is likely to happen.
