Here's a little program I made in college for one of my professors to administer the Big 5 personality test. You'll need to use the Wikipedia page in order to interpret your results. If you want to inspect the source, build it from scratch 'cause you don't trust me, or make improvements to the code (it is pretty lazy :P), then here's the source.

Huh, I kinda expected my scores to change more from the last time we did this (you'll need an old account to view that, by the way). Last time was:
Extraversion: 19
Agreeableness: 27
Conscientousness: 15
Emotional Stability: 31
Openness: 60

And doing it now I get:
Extraversion: 18
Agreeableness: 26
Conscientiousness: 21
Emotional Stability: 23
Openness: 59

Are you on Windows 8? That's the only possible explanation I can think of. It was compiled in Vista, so maybe there's something weird about Windows 8 that doesn't like it. I'll re-compile in 7 and see what happens, but I can't get it to break in 7, and as you can see the code is extremely simple. New executable is uploaded now.

It's extrOversion, with an "o."  And yes yes, I know the stupid Merriam-Webster dictionary lists the version with an "a" as a variant, but Merriam was a communist and Webster sacrificed children to the blood god.  :P

Also I'm assuming this won't work for me as I'm on a Mac.

I notice you've become less stable, Locke.  Heh.

Wikipedia and my teacher list 'a' as correct, so that's what I went with. :P

There's probably some way to run it, like how Linux has WINE. It's by no means a complex program so if Mac has an equivalent it'll probably work. If you're feeling especially industrious you could always use the source to get the questions and do the grading yourself.

I am more conscientious though.

Compile it. :v

Somehow I doubt Jor knows how to compile a program. :P

Looking it up, it does seem to take a bit too much work to run one little program. And of course then after doing that you also need to know how to use gcc.

Given I am not a psychologist, I cannot interpret this correctly, nor can I be sure this is a valid outcome.

Maybe I'll get my mum to give me one of these.

Whoever said I don't know how to compile is full of shit.  I've been compiling since before you were born.  I'll compile the FUCK out of this bitch.  I'm a compiling machine.  People say, "Oh, man, that Jorost is one compilin' mofo."

I have no idea how to compile.

I could probably get some kind of emulator.  Or wait for Haf to show up and tell me how to do it in Terminal or something.  Or just wait until Monday and do it on my work computer.  :)

You could do it in Terminal with gcc, though like I said it takes a bit of work to set that up. If Haf already has a developer account and gcc though he could compile it for you.

Interesting. This test seems to define "extraversion" slightly differently than MBTI. I think the only reason I got as high as 15 is because, while I will keep to myself as much as possible, I can be assertive when I need to be. For reference, here's my MBTI (it's fairly recent - earlier this year I think):

INTJ
Introvert(100%)  iNtuitive(38%)  Thinking(25%)  Judging(44%)
  • You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (100%)
  • You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (38%)
  • You have moderate preference of Thinking over Feeling (25%)
  • You have moderate preference of Judging over Perceiving (44%)

SOS団 boards are offline, unfortunately, so I can't compare to my old results.

Program leaves memory fine for me on Windows 8.1, once I convinced it to run.

ew, C++. I'll see what I can do about making a Mac-friendly version.

... grumbles about the popularity of C-based languages ...

... I could fix it in 5 MINUTES if you'd only written it in Perl ...

Is it just straight text input? That's what it looks like.

Jor, if I'm right, you'll be able to compile it in Terminal. I'll figure it out.

Yes, just text that runs in command prompt, no fancy GUI or anything.
