Really, this is just ridiculous. I'm getting disgusted with right wing people.

That reads like the old Weekly World News.

I wonder if that paper was wiped out by the web. Just so much craziness available on the internet, now you don't need to go to the grocery store for lunacy.

There is a very vocal contingent on the right who refuse to see Obama as legitimate. I think this is because if they admit to themselves that he is who he says he is, and his election was not some huge, diabolical plot, then social attitudes in this country really are shifting inexorably away from them. In other words, they see in Obama the beginning of the end of their way of life. The dream of the blue-collar, middle-class working man is dead. You can't hope to get a decent job and make a life for yourself if you are an unskilled or low-skilled worker the way you used to be. To make it now you have to be a different kind of person, better educated and equipped to function in modern society. For religious whackjobs, they see the United States becoming more and more a secular country in the vein of Western Europe (a patently preposterous notion given how incredibly religious the United States remains, alone among developed nations). It sounds trite, but they see in Obama the very Change upon which he so famously campaigned. And it terrifies them.

Nobody wants to see the Reaper coming.

Agreed with you till the last few sentences. I think Obama does represent a change but as the last 4 years have shown not much change. Obama is still a moderate and I do not think the election will change much. The majority of America are moderates and don't like radical ideas(rampent socialism on the left and fire and brim stone speeches on the right). These men who run for political office know this all too well and won't be likely to put their job security on the line. For all his times he has stated his goal to destroy ObamaCare, Romney's stance on health care is actually to send the Health Care bill to each State and let them decide on their own. So even if Romney is elected ObamaCare may exist in some states.(I saw that the last time I checked Mitt's website in Decemberish so it might have changed)

That's been dead for a long time Jorost. Don't credit Obama with that.

But, really, I mean he's a crappy president, but I imagine Romney being worse. My life has neither gotten better or worse under Obama (yet, healthcare laws didn't kick in).

If it looks like Romney has a shot, I'll be voting for Obama. If it's a blowout, I'll vote Ron Paul or whoever the libertarian is on my ballot.

I'm not attributing it to Obama. He just had the misfortune of being in office when it finally sank in.

Look, Thrash, maybe your life hasn't gotten better under Obama. But it also hasn't gotten worse, and that's no small thing. Remember, all the economic predictions that winter of 2008-2009 were that we were facing a Great Depression-level economic calamity. I'm talking mass unemployment, bread lines, the whole deal. That didn't happen. Maybe we can credit that to Obama, maybe not. I'm inclined to think that he and his team actually did quite a lot to stabilize the economy and prevent a total meltdown. But frankly all he did was exactly the same thing John McCain would have done. The plan was worked out well ahead of time, in December of 2008, and although the Obama transition team was part of the conversation, they were by no means calling the shots. The bailout was very much a project of The Establishment, and it was going to happen no matter who was in office.

Still, bottom line is there wasn't a disaster. And he expanded health care and killed bin Laden. He's done okay. All things considered, I think Hillary Clinton probably would have done better, but Mitt-frigging-Romney? Not a chance.

I kind of wish POTUS and VP were switched on Dem side. Biden vs Romney debates would be much more entertaining and I like Biden as a person. His story is very incredible.

I love Joe Biden. Joe Biden was my choice for prez in 2007-2008, but once Obama stepped onto the stage, all the air was sucked out of the room for anyone else. Of course, I also liked John Edwards, so I guess that says a lot about my judgment.
