Isn't this just the free market at work? Enough people are against something so businesses stop selling it. So if you are against the free market doing what it wants then you are anti-American. Not shocking since you are ok with honoring a separatist movement. 
Except the free market also requires that consumers be free to express disapproval with such decisions, which is what you're seeing. So many people love getting all smug about stuff like this going "Oh but don't you support a free market? Then you should accept this." All that does is show they know nothing about how a free market is supposed to work and just want to rag on capitalis(m/ists). On the one hand, yes. Companies are going to look out for their own best interests. The flip side of that is that consumers also have to look out for themselves. If you speak out against consumers speaking out to express their interests, you are the one against a free market and ought to consider where you fit in relation to the label "anti-American."

Also, America was founded upon the work of a separatist movement and its constitution was written by the lead separatists. The idea of separatism is innately American.
Then again the Confederate flag is a symbol of treason. A flag that is basically known for slavery and racism. Honestly its just been around for so long you just get use to seeing it, but every time I see it I think "stupid redneck" I don't think that's a reason to try and ban it or get rid of it though. I wouldn't ban nazi flags just because of what it stands for, let people live how they wanna live. Let them show off their ignorance.

Ok so lets be hypo-rational for a moment. Say the Confederacy WON the civil war. Abraham Lincoln would have gone down as one of the WORST presidents in US History. He tried to push his agenda almost like a dictator would. He seized Union money from southern banks before the secession was even a thought, he cut off vital trade routes between the north and the south after the secession which all but incited the war. he might as well have fired the first shot. he broke habeus corpus for christs sake! thats a huge act of treason. he should have been impeached on the spot. When the civil war started it WAS about the states freedom to leave the union should they so choose. With the Emancipation Proclomation, Lincoln made it about slavery. Blame lincoln for this.

Stopping racists shooters is hard so we go after defenseless flags so we can all group hug after it. Oh well at least we pretended to having done something and removed some symptoms while leaving the entire problem still there.
That and there always has to be something to get offended by to feed the controversy machine. MSM can't function if it can't drum up something "shocking" to ram down everyone's throats and whip them into a frenzy over, and there are people out there who can't function if they aren't constantly reminding people they exist by way of shouting about something that "offends" them.
