Small businesses aren't good for the Walmart nation.

Face it: everything in your linked article is right, but it's because of the demands of big business. Both of your major parties come up with different public reasons, but they both support the status quo of a nation dominated by huge megacorporations because that's who's paying their bills.

The problem is that there simply isn't the ability for everyone to have like, food, water, stuff like that all in their place, what with apartments and all that.

Basically, we're moving toward a system that I have just this very moment termed Corporate Feudalism (©2013 JoroCo).  In the Middle Ages peasants (i.e. most people) were bound to a lord; in Corporate Feudalism they are bound to (you guessed it) corporations.  The difference is that when feudalism was at its height the social compact was a two-way street: both vassal and lord had certain obligations, and there were consequences and means of redress for each side if those obligations were not met.  Corporations follow no such strictures.

Exactly right.
Corporations and Big Banks, do whatever they please with no fear of reprisal.
Break a few laws?
Pay a fine and keep on pillaging.

You ARE a serf.
By serf, I mean indentured servant.
And by that, I mean you are a slave.
A slave of wages and convenience.
This is something people on BOTH sides of the isle should be fighting tooth and nail.
Our system has been subverted all in the name of the God Profit.

As I've stated on many occasions, this is not a spectator sport.
Get involved.
Fight back.
Invictus Rex.

For once, you've got something right Manoka.
It's actually the other way around.
Multinational corporations and banks lobby congress to create and pass bills that are in their interest. Senators make BIG bucks from said entities for pushing those agendas.
Then said congresspeople retire and become lobbyists themselves, thus perpetuating The Revolving Door.

As far as serfs in the Dark Ages vs Now, sure they were starving and lived short brutal lives.
The main difference is they actually had something to SHOW for their hard labor. If they farmed, they paid tribute to the lord of the manor, and what remained of the harvest they kept to feed their families. Nowadays, you work a 12 hour shift, and MAYBE after rendering unto Ceasar, you have enough to feed your family. Thanks to the likes of McD's and Walmart, living wages are next to non-existant. That's where the Nanny State comes in. Free phones, food stamps cash assistance, etc.
The whole thing is a joke.

Did you know that there's people who's job is to identify people who qualify for food stamps and force them on them whether they want them or not?

I don't see it as a matter of corporations wanting to control people. I see it more as the government wanting to control them, keep them indentured to them for their entire lives, keep them as part of the status quo. When all these handouts stop, the shit is gonna really hit the fan and I don't wanna be here for it.

Corporations.
Governments.
Rich assholes that make fortunes off our sweat and blood.
Same difference.
It's called Fascism Thrash old chum.

You know if Mary Antoinette had said "Put them on welfare," the French Revolution never would have happened. The pleebs would have stayed passive.
This is EXACTLY what is going on here.

You didn't coin corporate feudalism as a term Jor, I've heard it for years.

The whole noblesse oblige idea was part of the theory of feudalism, but in general it utterly failed to work that way. The people with the weapons ran things in feudal society. Kinda like in modern-day Somalia. B-)

The government is the people in a working system, and not your enemy. However the companies have bought them out, so the Government is corporate america's public relations arm.

I'm really looking forward to the American Bolshevik Revolution when the serfs working class rise up against the lords corporate elite lead by Lenin Jorost

Once the people realize how powerful they truly are, being what keeps the super elite, in their elite status, then change will come.

The sad part is violence is expected.

A true revolution is bloodless, but you know us 'Muricans.

I guess I'll make the (molotov) cocktails.,

The government is never all of the people. There's always a selection process to determine who gets to hold the reins of power.

... and in most cases, it's the money power that decides the election, (Romney non-withstanding)
