Yeah but the mathematical evidence, and the economic evidence, etc, point to a small cabal of banking institutions that control the capital power in a capitalist world. Not because they tried to get there but because it is inevitable.
I believe people with a lot of money are very interested in using it to manipulate politics through the corruptibility of individuals, especially individuals with power and fame and no sense of how to manage it. And this is plainly obvious, a cursory overview of the strategies of News Corporation will get you to this point, let alone info from people inside the company or observations of other wealthy power brokers in the country. And that's just Australia, where we have protections against rampant corporatism.
Just because I look at a piece of paper and see a cube does not mean a cube is there. If it has been demonstrated that a cube can also be a shape drawn on paper, then it is possible (and in some cases, more likely) that there is no cube at all, but a shape. Your senses both deceive and show the truth at least some of the time, that's why we have other methods of rationalisation.
