You do realize that for every job taken, it creates a new job, right? These are people that need new shoes, new clothes, new houses, all of which creates new jobs when these people move here, right? There isn't a fixed number of jobs, it's dependent on how many people are here. Since 1962 our population has nearly doubled, and yet we aren't out of like, half of all of our jobs; new people = new jobs. It's all proportional. 

So, actually, it's not a big deal if they take a job, they'll create a job just by needing to be alive. So that's a stupid reason to hate illegal immigrants anyways.

Robots are taking your jobs, not immigrants.  Immigrants come here to do jobs that require more skill and expertise than automation can provide.  High school drop outs who previously could stand at a metal press or along a steel mill line now must settle for a fast food job or as a greeter at Wal-Mart.  Now matter how tall a wall is built, it will not magically make uneducated people qualified for knowledge-economy jobs.

 

You want to drop out of high school?  Fine; learn to code or invent something.  Otherwise get used to, "Would you like fries with that?"

He who posts points out a lot has changed since 1962 like both parents to make a living and people having several jobs to stay alive. While the amount of jobs increased the productivity of the workers also did, but it doesn't reflect in how they get paid but expenses that do rise (most Dutch people in debt now are not the types that recklessly spend but just don't earn enough).

Other fun stuff is how the self employed without employees system is abused by companies here so they can replaced longterm stable jobs with short term contract ones where the hired party has to cover a shit load themselves. Funny enough it's the only country where it's increasing.

So yeah might look like there are enough jobs to go around but a job then and now is very different. Good luck finding one where you can be till your pension (also a vanishing concept).
