And you can't make that decision :P

And yet I did.  Weird.  How did I do that?!?

And I can be in a partnership with a nonhuman, inanimate object.

So screeeeewww you :3

You can't be a partner to an inanimate object/non-sentient(object have no intelligence) due to the fact they don't know they exist. That said you can use it as a tool and/or an Aid to Achieve your goals. If a person assign a personally to such an object is clearly not mentally healthy.

Well Some people have romantic relations with inanimate objects. Does Waifu Pillow rang a bell.

Their are healthy relationship with objects and there is this.....

Well, to be honest, I would not have survived in an age without computers. I actually *need* them.

I think you missed the joke.

You said you would not have survived in an age without computers, but before computers you wouldn't have known what you were missing.  Which opens up the conversation to the idea that some people are just born for certain jobs/tasks/roles, and what did those people do before those roles existed?  Did they live their lives unfulfilled, always feeling like there was something else they were supposed to be doing if they could just figure out what it was?  I wonder.

To be honest, I would be in very dire straits. I can't handwrite. Period. Not even I can read what I write. No amount of practice will ever fix that. I can't draw, period, same deal.

So.... I don't know what I'd do.

Unfotunatly yes. You have no idea how many friends I'll ask what their OS is and they respond by saying, "Whats an OS?"

This is actually a decent move from MS. They supported the OS for 12 years, which is by far and large a reasonable length of time in my opinion. It would be unfair to expect them to financially support support for it for longer, however there are people who have refused to update or have been unable, and they're providing a way for both parties to benefit. I like it. Reasonable and fair.

Maybe cause they seem to be trying to bring one out every 12 months these days, in 6 years time Microsoft will have a gun to everyones heads saying "update to Windows 14 now before the world ends when we stop updating the one we brought out 6 months ago!" :P

XP: October 2001
Vista: January 2007 (6 years)
7: October 2009 (3.5 years)
8: October 2012 (3 years)

You do have a point, in that the rate that they've been releasing new OS versions has increased. However, I believe it's a reasonable time frame. More importantly, they're supporting them for long enough periods of time that upgrading does not become a necessity for each OS. Vista will be supported for 10 years from it's release, and although afaik 7's end of support date has not been announced, I suspect a similar time frame will be used.

The thing is, when you say that, you ignore...

Windows 3.1: 1992 (I don't feel bad ignoring ones previous to this, as this was really the Windows breakthrough)
Windows 95: 1995 (3 years)
Windows 98: 1998 (3 years)
Windows 2000: February 2000 (2 years) (I count this because it actually saw wide enough consumer release that even though it was designed more as a server platform, I saw it in people's homes)
Windows ME: September 2000 (7 months, or 2 years if you don't count Windows 2000)
Windows XP: 2001 (1 year)

It's not really that launch windows have gotten shorter since Vista, they just got exceptionally long between XP and Vista's release.
