None of these people care about the kid that got killed. They are just opportunists. They'd just as soon of shot this kid for looking at them the wrong way.
I just don't get it. Let's say there's 5 times a year when a white cop kills a black man. There's 5 times a day where a black man is killing another black man. Why don't black lives matter then? Seems to me thousands of deaths would matter a lot more then 5.
The point of it is cops are supposed to protect and serve not unload a clip into an unarmed man who is running away or have 6 cops take one black man in custody and all the sudden he dies from spinal injury. It has been cumulative occurrence in some communities yet gets brushed off by mainstream media. If the protests were peaceful, they wouldn't be covered on the evening news. People keep complaining about how riots are not solving the problem but they are the only unfortunate way that the public knows what is happening. No if Grey was white he wouldn't have survived a severed spine but his odds of being injured by police would be minuscule. I do not condone what is happening but I understand it. If I were getting harassed by police on a daily basis due to sex, race, religion, etc, I would probably react similarly and so would you.
I agree with you that the looters are opportunists.
The majority of police homicide victims are still white.
Black people, granted, are still disproportionately targeted, but that doesn't mean that the chance of being injured is small if someone is white. It's still around 60% of targets (page 5). And most black people are killed by black officers, which doesn't mean they aren't racist, but it does imply that it's not just a white hegemony killing black people for no reason. (Page 174)
I would not go around hurting innocent people if I thought this was the case, because it would accomplish nothing. You don't punch a Grandma in the face at random for what someone else did to you.
