It seems like the only political quiz thing that gets posted is that one that generates the graph and puts you in one of the quadrants. This one is a bit different, although maybe a bit more simple? Anyways, it's done by the Pew center so could be interesting.

Also solid liberal.

I think we've done this one before. It looks very familiar. It is a bit oversimplified — there were a couple of questions where neither choice was really an accurate representation of my views. Overall I prefer the Political Compass, but this is not bad for the basics.

Your best fit is...
Steadfast Conservative
along with 12% of the public.

This overwhelmingly Republican group holds very conservative attitudes across most issues, including social policy and the size and scope of government. However, they generally are critical of business and Wall Street. Overall, Steadfast Conservatives also express highly negative attitudes toward immigrants and take a skeptical view of U.S. global involvement.

The frustrating thing is that both solid liberals and steadfast conservatives dislike the influence of Big Money on politics. You'd THINK they'd be able to work together to do something about it. But the power of that Big Money is all-pervasive. The Republicans didn't win the election the other night — Wall Street did.

Your best fit is...
Next Generation Left
along with 12% of the public.

Generally young, well-educated and financially comfortable, the Next Generation Left have very liberal attitudes on many issues, including homosexuality, abortion, the environment and foreign policy. While overall supportive of an activist government, most are wary of expanding the social safety net. Most also have relatively positive views of Wall Street’s impact on the economy. While most affiliate with the Democratic Party or lean Democratic, few consider themselves strong Democrats.

Fit me perfectly lol

Your best fit is...
Young Outsider
along with 13% of the public.

This relatively young, largely independent group holds a mix of conservative and liberal views. And while more lean toward the Republican Party than the Democratic Party, Young Outsiders generally express unfavorable opinions of both major parties. They are largely skeptical of activist government, as a substantial majority views government as wasteful and inefficient. Yet many diverge from the two conservative typology groups – Steadfast Conservatives and Business Conservatives – in their strong support for the environment and many liberal social policies.

But the power of that Big Money is all-pervasive. The Republicans didn't win the election the other night — Wall Street did.

Well I think the crux of the problem is that conservatives distrust the government side of things, whereas liberals distrust the business side of the equation. Then you have a lot of people unwilling to admit that, as the saying goes, it takes two to tango and that both parties are at fault. Naturally, this is perpetuated by the politicians themselves who point fingers and vehemently try to pin 100% of the blame on the other side. If you try to assign any of the blame to them, you're not on their side and therefore clearly on the other side.

It's ok, Redezra. I can at least take solace in the fact that I'm just better than everyone else.

It would. It sounds like a 90s alt-rock band.

Well I think the crux of the problem is that conservatives distrust the government side of things, whereas liberals distrust the business side of the equation.

This is true, and I have always found it frustrating. Government is not perfect, everyone knows that. But at the end of the day government works for us, the people. It may not always be easy to get results, but it is possible. Politicians answer to the electorate; corporations answer to no one but their shareholders. People's willingness to trust private, for-profit businesses over a government they themselves choose never ceases to boggle my mind. We can vote Congress out, we can vote governors out, we can vote the president out; we can't vote the board of directors of Exxon out.

Sometimes I think Sideshow Bob was right:

Your guilty conscience may move you to vote Democratic, but deep down you long for a cold-hearted Republican to lower taxes, brutalize criminals, and rule you like a king!
