You also hated Mitt Romney. As do a lot of people. As I'm sure I must have mentioned, I met him once, years ago when he was running for senator against Ted Kennedy (ha!). He was very stiff and wooden. Completely fake. Almost to the point where it seems surreal, like he's a two-dimensional movie character. But no, that's just him. I think the documentary Mitt, which was pretty good, has done a lot to make people like him a little more. I don't think anyone would have predicted that he'd be running at the top of the polls at this point. But most of the other alternatives are nutjobs. I think Rand Paul might have a shot at the nomination, but I think he'd go down in flames in the general election. Mitt Romney, at least, can make the argument that America should have gone with him to begin with and none of this would have happened, etc., etc. Of course it's bullshit but that doesn't mean it won't work. And Americans — especially Christian Americans — love a story of redemption. 2016 could be Mitt Romney's redemption.
