Yeah, you can get a lot of furniture for free on craigslist. I dunno if I'd take a used couch, but I certainly take a used computer desk.

There's several companies out there do make stuff like this. Much cheaper if you assemble it yourself, and often you get free shipping. Took me like 1-3 hours to assemble each item.

Note that the bed weighs like 120 pounds, so you'll need to get into your place. Or just open it up and bring it in piece by piece.

I agree with Thrash: I would be hesitant about getting "soft" furniture (couches, easy chairs, beds) on CL, but anything else is fair game.

I think that used to be so, but I think a modern Full is not as wide as two Twins.  I guess there's one way to find out...

• Twin 39 in × 75 in (99 cm × 191 cm)
• Full or double 54 in × 75 in (137 cm × 191 cm)
• Queen 60 in × 80 in (152 cm × 203 cm)
• King 76 in × 80 in (193 cm × 203 cm)
• California king 72 in × 84 in (183 cm × 213 cm)

 
So yeah, a Full is only 38.5% wider than a Twin.

Anyway, a full is fine.  It's perfectly comfortable for two, if it comes to that, and enormous for one.

 

Unless you have a cat.  My mother's master bedroom has a king-sized bed, and if the cat decides to sleep with you it is not big enough.  Somehow a seven-pound cat is able to push a full-grown human off it every time.

I miss Scandinavian bed sizes. Of course I slept in one when I lived in Iceland, but also when Ikea first came to North America they used to sell Scandinavian beds and I had one for a while when I was young. They are significantly longer than North American beds.

 

I'm fairly tall.

 

On North American beds I usually sleep sideways. Otherwise my feet stick off the end of the bed by quite a lot. That's why I like queen-size beds, they give me room on the other side to do this.

 

On Scandinavian beds I can sleep just straight.
