Castro's hard. Do I dislike him for being a dictator? Or do I like him for sticking to his belief in looking after Cubans for his entire life.
I mean, just because his country isn't the same as us western countries doesn't mean it's a bad way of living. It's like, the only successful Communist state. China and NK don't count. He succeeded in making life livable for everyone there. It's only the people who want rich-person privileges that lose out.
That said, he did that unilaterally and by crushing opposition. Which is not exactly the nice way of doing it.
