Dear Daily Kos,

I'm getting really tired of your shit.

Somehow adding me to your mailing list despite my never having interacted with your website directly is one thing. I sign the odd petition; perhaps you were somehow affiliated with one, and got my email as a result. Continually sending me weekly article digests despite my having clicked your 'unsubscribe' link—multiple times—is a bit annoying, but hey, sometimes your articles are actually worth reading, so I don't mind all that much.

But you know what I do mind? Getting paid political advertisements emailed to me from the corporate whore whose presidential campaign you apparently support.

I used to be a fairly frequent poster on Daily Kos. In fact I even have a four-digit user ID number (this indicates that it is an old number, someone who's been around since the early days, and conveys an absurd amount of clout in the DKos community). But what I found is that very few people there actually want to have a serious conversation about politics. They just want to root for the favorite. In 2008, for example, if you didn't drink the Obama Kool-Aid early and often, you were an apostate. I'm surprised they're boosting Clinton so hard; I would have had them pegged for Bernie Sanders people through and through.

They hated her in '08. It was Obama all the way. And they were all about the Occupy movement. That sounded like Bernie to me. But they're very wrapped up in the idea of the first woman president. Anyway they're insufferable.
