perhaps we should have a special mask in order to be allowed to enter this sub forum. That way repeat offenders can be banned from it which hopefully will help put out the sparks of anger before they become an all consuming flame. Members must request to be masked and those who don't want to know about it will never see it in their new content.

I like this idea, but I think perhaps we should include something in the application process for members and diplomats where they can opt in or out from the start and masking is automatically granted. The idea of having a thread where people request permission to discuss political topics just rubs me the wrong way.

YAY! Omg yes, then all of our political hatred can be directed into hear instead of popping up in the chat room all the time! 

 

Should lower the tension. Which has been getting consistently worse I feel... 

 

 

Can't put my finger on it, but I believe some recent incident was largely a cause of this...

I'm not generally a fan of multiple subforums. What's the point of having a general chat room if we're just going to subdivide everything? But I will yield to popular demand.

I have asked the mods to keep a close eye on this forum, as I will do myself. No one likes having their beliefs challenged, it's just human nature. Too often the result is nastiness and bad feelings. As always, heated discussion on substance is encouraged. But I will not have this descend into nastiness and name-calling. Of course friendly teasing and busting balls is okay. I'm sure we can all tell the difference.

That why I liked the political sub-forum it concentrated the posts in a meaningful way. And also I hate the same flamewar dabble that is happening between certain members(I am seriously doubting that this section of this forum is going to get moderated correctly).

Like I said, each person can moderate for themselves. They just have to hit the report button. And be grown up enough not to fight back if someone does start stuff.
