"VOTING DOESN'T MATTER" How many states were actually swing states this time? Just think about how crazy that is. Voting matters. I heard someone say Minnesota is too blue, it'll never go red. No one owns a state. A party. All the polling. Politics. It's all made up bullshit. Even with people fear mongering, and so much ignorance. Somewhere, deep down, certain goodness keeps things going. People believe in something. And civilization continues on somehow. And that society we all make up; they lead us to this point, and they counted the votes. Many thousands, perhaps millions, of people put in the effort, and if they wanted the result or not; we have Trump as President. Voting matters. You shouldn't be ignorant. Maryland wasn't at play, so I always knew that "my vote didn't matter". But I still went to vote. If I wanted Hillary or Trump. I told myself I was going to vote trump as my protest vote. But I choked. For weeks, months I promised myself I would vote Trump, esp since it doesn't matter. Best case they make a note about a smaller margin of victory in Maryland. But the last 2 days I wavered. And then when I got my ballet and stood at the little table (we did paper ballets this year in maryland. First time I've done so). I couldn't decide. I voted for president last because I was so unsure. I choked because I honestly didn't want Trump as President. And even if "my vote didn't matter", and I knew how Maryland would vote, and this and that. I don't want to cast my vote for someone who I don't want leading my country. Even if I know I must be pragmatic. I have been (or maybe contrarian but alas). I voted for Garry Johnson, even though I hate the man (now. I wasn't crazy about him in 2012 when I voted for him before, and have only soured on him now), but I knew it was a throwaway protest vote. Same deal as the Trump vote in theory I suppose. But I felt better about it. And even without getting 5% (which I didn't think would happen, but that's a nice goal). Getting as many votes as he did, actually shows something. My story didn't have a point. I just, so strongly believe voting matters. And, this crowd that will read this, will either be jaded, pragmatic; y'all already know (well most of you) how politics works and are informed (again most of you*), but still. FUCK THE ESTABLISHMENT. I'm lowkey scared, but people should just chill. Christ.

I'm done with voting. I've lost all faith in the process.

You should've lost the faith when the DNC fucked over Bernie. That was your own party screwing you. Yet you still stuck with them. Hell, even Bernie stuck with them. Many other Dems woke up after that and either didn't vote or switched to Trump, that's part of what gave him the win. There were exactly 3 Trump supporters on my shift (1 was me). The other 2 told me they would've voted for Bernie. If you hadn't voted at all, you wouldn't be as upset. You can't have expected her to possibly be able to win. She is evil incarnate. I wonder if the fireworks company is going to return her money.
