The season will be starting in one month (either Sept. 30 or Oct. 7). As to get the last few kinks ironed out, I'm going to go ahead and ask for everyone's rosters. Please download the spreadsheet linked below:

I should warn everyone that this is an .xlsx file, meaning it's only readible in Excel 2007. I do apologise, as earlier versions of Excel & Google Docs will not handle several self-checking mechanisms built into the sheet.

There are two sheets to the file. The first is the roster. You are to specify 16 persons on your team. Fill in the person's name and whether you are assigning them to be the captain or a bowler, striker, or keeper. Set up a batting order (1-12, with 12 being the alternate) and then a bowling rotation. You may fill out the ancillaries: height, weight, batting and throwing arm, etc.

Your bowlers have to be in the lineup, because they will be fielding at least 80 percent of the time. Also, one keeper needs to be among the XI. Whoever is marked 1-11 will be the ONLY 11 allowed on the field from your side the entire game, just like soccer. No calls to the bullpen (which doesn't exist in cricket), no special teams players, it's just those 11 (and alternate, should any of the XI get injured during play) playing for you the entire weekend.

At the present moment you do not need to worry about age, skill or seasons. Everyone's starting out as a rookie, and I will be rolling to determine everyone's age via a 3d6 roll (ages will be between 17 and 28.)

The second sheet will contain the skill points. Skill points have to be earned during gameplay. And to test the d20 system, I will be encouraging pre-seasons friendlies to be set up this month. More on that in a future thread.

When you are done with the roster, upload it in this thread. As soon as I have the ability to set permissions, I'll be enabling everyone in the league access to upload files, provided Glen is OK with that.

Yeah that's fine, I can set it in the group permissions that way you only need to add people to the group. :D

Everyone with a team should have the ability to post & upload in this forum.

That said, I'll probably be tweaking a couple things on the roster files so that I'm able to have them accessible via Google docs.

Also, I've uploaded my roster. Should you view it, the tabs on there are for individual player stats. These will be filled out as the season progresses. For now, don't worry about adding them yourself just yet.

We can just upload/download here whenever there are changes, if it's simpler. We have plenty of space for that sort of thing. We could create a thread particularly for that purpose where you post all the "current" roster sheets and remove all the old ones.

I'm not sure this is 100% correct, and some of the descriptions are inaccurate (although everyone on the list is either of British, German, or Norwegian ethnic heritage as far as I know). Check it out, if things need to be fixed, I'll fix them. :D

I am determining age by way of a 3d6 roll, the oldest being 28 and the youngest being 17. The ages are generated as follows:

I did have them set to initials, although I may have forgotten to set some of them that way, I don't really remember. Also, I am officially appealing for the "team code" of 42. This is important to me. That's why I had them all set to initials + 42, so like GB42. PLEASE!!!

Glen, team number is based on the order in which the team was formed. You had the third team in the league. If you want the number 42, you'll have to fold your team and reform it once team #41's been formed, which might be a few years down the road.

As for player IDs, I kept the 42 at the end for all of them. Thus, the full code for Thom Hobbes is 03TH42. For the time being, to make sure all your players have on their player files "42", their initials can never match. Else I go to 43.

Hobbs, several issues with your roster:
1) I need first names. That goes for everyone.
2) I'm vetoing the use of the name "G. Brett". I'm pretty sure he's the guy going ape in my avatar on the CN forums.
3) Of the 11 players in your line up, at least five of them must be bowlers. The Laws of Cricket prohibit a bowler from bowling more than 20 percent of a match (in our case, four overs). Hence, you need five.
Also, you'll want to set your Team ID in the top right (which reads 01) to 04.

Sperley, your keeper needs to be among the first 11. The twelfth man is the alternate, subbed in should any of the 11 playing get injured. And usually, you want to put your best strikers first. Your strikers don't come up until after your bowlers are dismissed.
Your Team ID is 05. And before I forget:

Rudekker is 06

The team from New Dawnland will be 11 if we need to field it.

Several of them have like four names, or more, so we could just use a middle initial instead of the first initial in the event of a conflict. But no matter what happens, I think it's important that everyone realize that all of my player's Jersey's have the number 42 on the back. All of them. They have the last name and the #42. They can also all be correctly referred to by their Jersey number, 42. Example..

#42 bowled it straight down the middle resulting in a pop towards the fence, it was caught by #42 on the bounce, who threw it to #42, who tossed it back to #42 stopping the play. Bob wasn't the speed of #42's throw to #42 amazing? He really fired it right back to #42. Impressive.

Quick Edit: Why is FC number 2? I was the first person other than you to post a roster. Me confused.

I numbered it based on the signup sheet from last season, followed by New Dawnland and then M3g4tr0n, who both fielded exhibition teams last year. From there, it was new entries for this season.

As such, I've edited the roster template to include a new check for this. Unless you're myself, Sir Glen or Father Christmas, you need to redo your lineup by way of the new spreadsheet.
