I will admit I have never tried it. But I am generally not a fan of barbecue, so it's not the type of thing that would appeal to me.

No, but it sounds hideous. It's important to note (and coming from the South I would know) that "McRibs" aren't in ANY WAY legitimate barbecue. They are the anti-barbecue. They are EVIL. Actually I haven't seen them marketed at all down here; given how seriously people in Richmond take their barbecue, and the incredible abundance of one-off speciality barbecue restaurants I wonder if McDonalds is even trying to sell them down here. I couldn't say for sure because I haven't been to a McDonalds for anything but breakfast in years.

I never understood why McDonald's doesn't have hot dogs. What goes together better than hamburgers and hot dogs? Plus a huge proportion of McDonald's clientele are kids, and kids love hot dogs.

Who wouldn't want to walk up to the counter and order a McWiener?

I'd imagine a McD's Hot Dog would be pretty damn nasty. I'm very picky about brands of Hot Dogs that I eat (and it's not that many), since most of them taste like crap.

I prefer, in order:

1. Sabrett
2. Bests
3. Hebrew National
4. Thumanns

Ball Park and Oscar Meyer are the nastiest things in the world.

AH the Arthure Bryants and especially the Gates makes me love you. It brings back memories of Zarda's(which i hear is closed now) and other places i love back home. We ALWAYS stock up on Gates when we are up in KC b/c they dont sell it down here

Most commercial hotdogs are about as bad for you as food gets. You are in a very real sense poisoning yourself with every bite. It's hideous. Food in this country is atrocious.

I didn't say I've never had barbecue. I've never had a McRib. I've had barbecue, I just don't particularly care for it. I don't hate it the way I hate, say, salmon. It just doesn't do anything for me.

Atlas, I have never heard of any of those restaurants (I assume that's what they are) that you listed. We don't have them here.

The best barbecue place in Boston is widely considered to Redbones. I have been there a couple of times, but it is hard for me to judge since barbecue leaves me "meh."

Bottom line: I come from the tribe of preppy New Englanders. Our people do not eat barbecue.

And Glen, there are some very good hot dogs out there. A good all-beef frank, ideally from a deli, is delicious. I'm not saying a McDonald's hot dog would be high quality, just that I'm surprised they don't have them. Kids especially tend to like cheap hot dogs anyway.
