Okay, what then?  They would never be able to prove cause and effect, because there would be no actual proof that your touch had killed them.  It would be quite the legal quandary.  And of course once your abilities became known the government would want you, either to study or to employ, probably both.  You could probably live well as a high-paid assassin.  But no, you'd never have any real connections with anyone.

This was essentially my rationale.  Light Emission is tempting, and I can envision lots of ways that it could be used awesomely.  But turning into a falcon and flying?!  No contest.  Plus the gouging people's eyes out thing.  Touch of Death is powerful, for sure, but the sacrifices were too great.

 

If I had this to do over again, I might give them all drawbacks.  Like for Light Emission I was thinking maybe you would always glow a little.  In daylight it's not noticeable, but in the dark it makes you look radioactive.  You can turn it off by an act of will, but it's difficult to hold it for more than about five minutes; at ten minutes the strain is unbearable and you let go and light up. 

 

I'm not sure what the drawback would have been for Falcon Form.  You lay eggs?

Okay, here's the drawback for Falcon Form, if there had been a drawback:  You can only stay in a given form, whether human or bird, for four hours, at which point you will spontaneously revert to the other form, no matter where you are or what you are doing.  Now, if you were in human form and your four hours were nearly up (say in the middle of a school day), you could just nip into a bathroom stall, transform into a falcon for a few moments, and then transform back to human for another four hours, but that's the point — you'd have to do that.  And you wouldn't want to be mid-swoop when you reverted back to human.

Not to mention, answering questions aside, if you're practiced enough you could revert back to falcon form from human form if you're mid-air.

Perhaps in this age you'd have to worry about being caught on camera, but I'd like to think this scenario exists more like a superhero world, and things are kinda convenient about certain things.
