MMORPG's

The apex of internet crack. Many people (like myself) are easily addicted.
So, if anyone actually plays them around here, maybe we can get some nerd speak happenin' up in this beast.

My current fix is called 12sky2.
Here's a couple of screenies of my character GreysGhost.

Is that one of those free MMOs that are based on micro-transactions?

I play World of Warcraft. I'm not really much of a hardcore player though.

Micro-transactions?
As in the game is free, but there are cash features?
If so then yes.
I used to play WoW, but I'm not down for paying for a game. Unless I REALLY want to.
Some of the highest ranked players don't pay a dime.
I however LOVE cash items. In the 7 months I've been playing, I think I've only dropped around $50. People pay a whole lot more for their WoW subscriptions.

Then again, there are people on our server who are well know for spending FAR too much.
We are talking in the thousands of Euro.

I have yet to find a good sci-fi one that's free.
I played Eve and thought it was super sweet.

(note: the one I am currently on, TS2, is more action-adventure, considering there is little to no magic)

I have played so many MMORPG's, its ridiculous.

I started with Asheron's Call... then Asheron's Call 2(which died to my dismay).

Then I tried DAoC which I thought I would like, but didn't. Then Star Wars Galaxies, till I read George Lucas's interview that he made it almost impossible to become a jedi knight.. then I quit cause it got old and a year later Lucas Arts buckles and makes it easy as shit to become a jedi... I feel bad for those people that actually earned it. Then I tried Evercrack 2, and although it was pretty it was just stale.

I tried a bunch of others as well, AO, NeoCron(?), L2Fly, FF MMO, Lineage 2, D&D beta and finally I ended my MMO run with..

WoW.. which I played for about a year I got up to lvl 58 and one day I just never logged back in.

The best MMORPG ever, has to be Asheron's Call hands down. The simple fact you could customize your guy which ever way you wanted was fucking awesome.

I will tell you this though, the most fun I had playing a game for a long time, clanning, guilds, irc, awesome solid community, has to be Team Fortress Classic for Half Life. TFC owns my <3.

As for SciFi, I don't generally play MMOs but I WILL be playing "The Old Republic", it looks completely sick. You should all check out the site and relevant videos.

I play WoW although not hardcore. I have a lvl 53 Orc Hunter that I play mostly, however, I have a 68 NE warrior that I have had for about 5-6 years. No I haven't kept my account active all that time.

What is this micro-transaction thing King Biscuit? What server do you play on?

My main is a level 43 Orc Hunter on The Scryers. I'm trying to level him up, so I can roll a DK on Wildhammer. That's the server where most of my friends play.

Client software is free, and there are no subscription fees. There is however a cash item mall; Vanity gears, exp boost potions, lottery boxes, inventory expansion, etc.

The server I play on is Equinox. There are a couple Asian servers out there as well.
If you like hardcore PvP check it out.http://www.12sky2.com.
I'm in Dragon Clan :D

I have to agree with that, Plus the fact that it wasn't faction based enabled some awesome player based politics. I've been hoping another game like that comes out. I thought Darkfall would be it, but that game flopped hard, but people have been saying good things about Mortal Online. Has anyone had the chance to try that beta?

I've purchased gold in WoW before. I'm a really casual player, so I can't grind enough to make the cash. I don't see a problem with spending $6 or $7 for 1,000 gold. It's a risk, but I'm willing to take it.
