I decided two things:
- I'm not in the business of having children
- What other people do is not my business, and none of my social circle would touch the stuff anyway.
So while I still hate the stuff, I don't actually think I'd be affected by it.
I can respect that. But the question I must ask is would you be wiling to support people (via your money) who do it? Would you hire someone who does it? Going from working jobs all my life with people close to me age or older to working a job with people who are mostly younger has changed my stance. I see the affect it has on work ethic.
No, I'd probably not hire someone who does. But then again, in most cases I'd doubt I'd know they do. If I do, that's cause they've been dumb and told me during the interview, or showed up high anyway (in which case it's the same as if you showed up drunk). Traditional alcoholic views apply. Don't get high at work, don't get high before work, don't talk about stupid stoner shit at work. If your KPI's go down cause of your habit, you're going to get replaced. etc etc.
Basically, if it's legalized, I doubt I'll be interacting with people who use it. But then again, I don't drink, and my displeasure with people who do to excess around me generally gets them to change their behavior while I'm present anyway. So I don't think it'll matter in my social circles.
