Even if I didn't hate them; what gives anyone the inkling of an idea that I would support them?
I don't want my nations efforts, wealth, blood, and morality given to people that do actions on our behalf that I did not consent to.
Why do you hate them?
Foreign aid can be beneficial to the U.S., by building allies and supporting out interests in the region. Bailing most of the Europe out during WWII helped solidify our alliance with them. Back in the early 1900's, the U.S. just saw them as colonialist empires, which they were, and us as a rebellious colony.
With our intervention, it helped transform large portions of Europe into what they are today, which is much better, for us and for them, and strengthened our ties with them. We shouldn't see things from the perspective of how it only benefits ourselves, but, ultimately these problems have a tendency to balloon out of control and eventually involve us if we don't put a lid on them.
We're a part of the world as well, and what happens in it effects us.
