At the very least, I like dishonesty in my politicians. The more twisted and twofaced, the better.
Honest, idealistic people are unlikely to compromise, unlikely to be flexible in reaction to difficult and nuanced situations. They will think of the people, and how their decisions will affect them, instead of just making the decision as is required.
Trump isn't an upstanding, honest man. He's just fucking stupid. He's not idealistic, he just exemplifies reactionism, the need to react loudly and angrily to anything someone can point to as bad. He targets symptoms, not root causes. He can't actually make anything better, he's just not smart enough, he can only make them worse.
Clinton may have had a bad time with scandals over the past few years, but she's clean, nobody can pin anything on her. What that tells us is that she's smart enough to avoid the shit, if not good enough to avoid the smell. She's eminently qualified to be a manipulative, deceitful operator, due to every bad thing ever said against her. She's also spent decades in the arena, and has not only survived, but thrived. That makes her terrifyingly good at her job (namely, being a diplomat), and indicates that she is very smart. I would love her as leader of my country, heck she could be an extremely successful and useful leader of any country. She is an excellent choice, as far as current candidates go.
