No, it's a specific stroke.

 

There's an old guy at my gym who swims almost every day.  He's pretty good, too, especially considering that he's in his 80s.  We got to talking one day and it turns out he's a former Olympic gold medalist and world champion named Jim McLane.

More importantly, I can swim both faster and longer than him.  Which means I am superior to an Olympic gold medalist.

Lol, Sidestroke is an awesome swimming stroke. It's difficult to get a hand of, cause the whole thing is asynchronous, but once you learn the pattern, it's actually one of the most energy efficient strokes. I've learnt how to go really bloody fast with it, but it also allows you to be really lazy and get places relatively quickly
