American football is boring as sin.

 

Soccer is fun to play. When I watch it essentially I'm watching the keepers though, which is what I used to play.

 

Rugby is fun to watch except for scrums which don't do TV very well.

lol, There is only one "Football", it's what you call "Soccer". It's the only one of these games where it is against the rules to touch the ball with your hands with minor caveats. Every other game is "name here" football. Or rugby.

 

Etc.

 

Still, I find all of them boring to watch.

I don't find any kind of football—or any kind of sport, really—fun to watch.  I don't care what steroid-infused nitwit can throw/kick/hit what ball into what basket/goal/net.  That said, it's silly to assert that this or that football is "real" football.  What most of the world calls "football" North Americans call "soccer."  It wasn't a conscious choice; it's just the way the language evolved.

I also have absolutely no interest in sports, besides rally. I can appreciate the skill that professional athletes have and how much time they put into practicing and what not. But in the end, they contribute absolutely nothing but entertainment that I don't enjoy at all. I voted for soccer because if I was forced to watch something, that's the least objectionable.

Also, lack of Canadian football as an option would pain me if I gave a crap.

I agree with Phate.  Sports is all about entertainment, and I am not entertained.  Which is not to say that I don't recognize the skill and physical prowess involved, it simply doesn't impress me enough to want to watch it.  If I want to know who won I can check Google later.

I agree with Phate.  Sports is all about entertainment, and I am not entertained.  Which is not to say that I don't recognize the skill and physical prowess involved, it simply doesn't impress me enough to want to watch it.  Like I tell kids all the time: it's not that I don't understand, it's that I don't care.

I refer to soccer as the Sports Actors' Guild of the World. Anytime I watch soccer, while it does have its exciting moments, I see players flop all over the ground when someone barely touches them. "Oh, he bumped into me! All of my bones are broken!" I used to play it in elementary school and some other kids did the same thing. Here I am running around, clearly the shortest kid on the field and I barely bump into the biggest one and he flops on the ground crying like a big baby. I got yellow carded for it because he put on enough of a show. I thought, "I'll give him something to cry about." A couple of minutes later when I was moving the ball down the field he got in my way so I kicked the ball as hard as I could right at his nuts. The ball bounced back at me and when he went down, I kicked it again and hit him square in the face and gave him a bloody nose. I got red carded, but it was worth it and I walked off the field laughing. I don't like it when players get bumped into and act like they got hit by a car. If I ever got bumped into, I'd just bump back into them harder. Probably one of the reasons why I like American football so much more.
