According to the World Health Organization, 'There is no evidence whatsoever that caffeine use has even remotely comparable physical and social consequences which are associated with serious drugs or abuse.' In other words, coffee is not addictive.

Anything pleasant is addictive in the psychological sense. However, from WebMD:

 

Caffeine is a stimulant to the central nervous system, and regular use of caffeine does cause mild physical dependence. But caffeine doesn't threaten your physical, social, or economic health the way addictive drugs do. (Although after seeing your monthly spending at the coffee shop, you might disagree!)

If you stop taking caffeine abruptly, you may have symptoms for a day or more, especially if you consume two or more cups of coffee a day. Symptoms of withdrawal from caffeine include:

  • headache
  • fatigue
  • anxiety
  • irritability
  • depressed mood
  • difficulty concentrating

No doubt, caffeine withdrawal can make for a few bad days. However, caffeine does not cause the severity of withdrawal or harmful drug-seeking behaviors as street drugs or alcohol. For this reason, most experts don't consider caffeine dependence a serious  addiction.

I've got a couple that aren't listed.

 

Of course, I watch porn several hours every day. I don't drink every day, but when I do, I drink so much that pedestrians walking on the sidewalks would be safer playing Russian Roulette with 5 out of the 6 chambers filled with bullets. When I drink, I smoke, excessively like everything else.

 

Otherwise, I've got a MST addiction. (MST = Moist smokeless tobacco, e.g. Copenhagen) I usually run through about a can a day, but I can quit whenever I want, I just don't want to because I like the taste and the way it feels. Also, before you call me a redneck, do a quick comparison between me and Nascar.

 

Also, I love cola. Part of the reason why I'm a bit of a lardass.

Well, no, that says it's not harmful.  It doesn't say caffeine is not addictive, which it absolutely is.  It's just a lot easier to quit than, say, crack.  :drag:
