Do you wear a watch? If so, which wrist do you wear it on? As a kid I used to wear one on my right wrist, but at some point somebody told me that right-handed people usually wear watches on the left, and left-handed people on the right, so I switched. I guess the idea is that if you're using your dominant hand to do something, like fight off a grizzly bear, you can still check to see what time it is.

 

I've been wearing a watch for so long, and I'm so OCD, that I find I cannot go without wearing one. In fact, one time I was on my way to work when I realized I had forgotten my watch, so I pulled into a CVS and bought a cheapo digital watch just to have one. But nowadays most people have cellphones in their pocket that tell the time, so is a watch even necessary anymore?

And/or just don't. I could wear one, but I don't. I'm bad at fashion. Then again I did recently start wearing a belt to be more adult....

I rarely wear a watch anymore, but when I do, I do so on my right hand. I've been told this is proper because I'm left-handed, but my mother's right-handed and also wears a watch on her right hand. I'm not sure if that's where I got the habit, though; it just feels to me as though my right hand is the proper place for a watch, and I'm not sure that would change if I happened to be right-handed.

I have been wearing one more or less continuously since the '90s. For a while I wore it face down (i.e. with the face on the palm side of the wrist) because a lot of doctors and nurses wear it that way, the idea being that it is easier to see while taking pulses or counting respiratory rates. At some point I finally realized that there was no advantage and switched back the "normal" way. 

 

The funny thing is that I'm obsessive* about having my phone either on my person or very close by (as I sit on my couch typing this it is on the table beside me). But I find that it's just a little too annoying to take it out and press the button, it's quicker just to look at my wrist. One day I tried it watchless at work (I still had it, I just took it off) and found that I was constantly checking the phone. I hadn't realized how often I checked the time.

So much easier to check a watch then dig out a phone. I almost always have two phones on me at work and still miss my watch when I forget it.

Kid president. President of all the kids in America. What's hard about that? I lived in the White Treehouse for a year. (Kid presidents only serve one-year terms, and having accomplished everything that I had set out to achieve in my first term, I chose not to run for a second.)
