Muahaha!

 

Nah, we all have stuff we love that others hate.  I love scifi, but I'm picky.  Love Star Wars, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica.  Hate Stargate, Babylon 5, Farscape.  Never seen Lexx but it looks stupid.  I thought Firefly was okay but highly overrated.

Lexx is in fact stupid.

 

I like Stargate well enough. It's better than, say, Welcome Home Kotter which gives me coughing fits.

 

But I don't understand why it has a fan base. I mean... The actors are OK but the show plots are incredibly predictable. If you removed the current actors and replaced them people who are a bit less talented and much better looking you'd probably have Cleopatra 2525. And Cleopatra doesn't have a fan base. I just don't get it.

 

On the other hand I love Farscape. B)

Stargate is the best TV Show, with the exception of Big Bang Theory, that I've ever seen.

 

I've seen all movies, all of SG-1, Atlantis and SGU. :3A

 

Add an SGC choice or something. Sheesh.

Stargate, in context, brought hundreds of unique worlds into living rooms. It was like Star Trek all over again. Only instead of being set in the future, it was set in the 'now'. People would relate, dream, etc. Plus there was that whole 90's thing about government conspiracies, X files, etc.

 

So it naturally proved popular. As time went on, the fan base weakened a bit, and ultimately resulted in the failed Stargate Universe (although to be fair, SGU was crap). As for SG1, it peaked around the 6th or 7th seasons, and then it was all downhill. But it was inevitable. I mean, you can only conquer the galaxy with superweapons so many times before you run out of plausible enemies  (or galaxies).

 

But the episode Window of Opportunity will forever be enshrined in my own hall of fame. Best episode ever. Followed closely by The Other Guys.
