We did this once before with the classic flight vs. invisibility.  This time the parameters are as follows:

Superhuman Strength:  You possess superhuman strength enabling you to lift (press) 5 tons (10,000 lbs./4,500 kg) under optimal conditions.  This is sufficient power to lift a mid-size car over your head or punch through a 3-inch thick oak door in one blow.

Superhuman Speed:  You possess the ability to move at speeds up to 500 mph, with reflexes and sensory perception to match.  At this rate of speed opponents appear to be moving in slow motion.

Both powers imply any physical adaptations necessary to use them safely.

I think I've already made myself clear with my comments about The Flash. It's gotta be speed. You can do everything with speed. Strength is useful and it helps with a lot of things but speed helps with literally everything.

Of course the speed here is less than The Flash's. But it's still hugely useful.

As much as strength is cool, speed is the way to go. If nothing else, the sensory attachment, makes it so you can dodge dangers, and process information faster.

So many more applications that Strength, and it ties into strength as well.

Plus your brain could move faster, so you could study faster, complete tests, etc.

It would be fantastic.

Flight would be tricky.

As would various pyschic powers.

Interesting!  I expected at least some people to go for the strength.

I will be the loner here. I pick strength. I mean yeah with speed you could avoid danger but with strength....well if you were worried about danger you could literally make yourself the iron man suit. There would be nothing to worry about. You would be strong enough to literally encase yourself in metal and be alright.

Speed would be cool but you would still be weak. I am assuming that with the strength comes like durability. As in like the strength doesnt come from nowhere. I am picturing like a bane with venom kind of thing going on. I would take that over speed any day.

With all that speed you could also defeat a whole crowd of assailants before they even realized what was happening.

Whoa whoa, speed is not used to just run away people. You may not be able to have the strength to carry out a stationary attack, but with the extra velocity, a punch at 500mph would splatter a normal human being.

However, truly, in this poll, everyone is at a disadvantage. Say if two went head to head in a duel, one with strength, the other speed. The one with strength, would attempt to attack the ones with speed, but they'd be too slow to successfully do any damage. The one with with speed, could avoid the slow attacks, but couldn't dish out any good damage due to the thickness of the muscles on the one with strength.

Although, that's only if you decided to actually use these powers for pure sport with one another.

That was the real clincher for me: not the speed itself, which would be only mildly amusing and/or useful, but the cognitive benefits that go with it.

Well, I probably should have been clearer about that.  To my thinking, you would only "think" faster when you were actually moving at speed, so that you would still be able to perceive and react appropriately.  When you were "at rest" your thinking and processing speed would be no faster than normal.  But since I didn't say that up front it's fair game.

Well, that's what I assumed, actually, but even then, unless one's ability to "think" faster when moving at speed was solely limited to functions actually related to controlling that speed, I imagine it would still provide a lot of opportunity beyond simply not running headfirst into a wall.

Though quite honestly, even if it was limited like that, I think I'd still choose it. I don't drive. B-)

With a reaction time that was say, hundreds of times faster, you could shoot 500 people before they could attack you.

So I mean dang.

And with super speed, and the right stuff, you could easily drill through almost anything, create mini eddies, things like that.

It would be neat.

Not quite fast enough to phase through matter or make escape velocity, but it would be pretty cool.

Plus, getting to work, or a school, or anything, it would be fantastic. Could do your homework really quickly, could spend all day doing chores. You'd easily become a genius or get a ton of degrees.

WEll what's the point to reaction time if it only happens when you're moving. O_o

Also jog in place; rule defeated.
