Not to be confused with supervision.  Heh.  Thank you.  I'm here all week.

 

Parameters:

 

Super-Hearing.  Your hearing is acute enough to understand a whispered conversation at 1000 feet (300 meters).

 

Super-Vision.  Your vision is acute enough to read a typed piece of standard letter paper at 1000 feet.

 

I'm kind of torn.

Super Hearing. Like a spider sense in a way. It could forwarn you of an impending danger by knowing who or what is around you by hearing their foot steps or breathing..or if it's really acute, their heartbeat.

As always, we assume that you have whatever adaptations are necessary to live with this ability comfortably.  So yes, I would imagine you could filter out background noise and focus your hearing, just as we can do now.  Same with the vision.

 

Super-vision implies the ability to see things at minute scale, perhaps being able to perceive extremely tiny movements, such as the hands of a clock, etc.  Super-acuity, I suppose.  In that case you could be like Hannibal Lecter, reading the tiniest, most subtle cues to a person's emotional state.

 

But hearing works in the dark.  I think I'd have to go hearing.

Aww... does that mean the Super-Vision does not include night vision. Thats too bad... I still think Super-Vision would be better. Because it has some perks that Hearing has. At least once you learn to read lips. And your attention to detail would improve astronomically. So unless Hearing allows you to automatically understand all languages, I'll go with Super-Vision.
